Dark Forest Faerie.

I don't do too many shoot that have an elaborate backstory, but this one definitely required an explanation.

The idea is that Faeries are more akin to plant based life than animals, not having a central brain but it actually being a whole system that run through their entire body. They don't have vocal cords and communicate through a complex series of non-verbal cues - which makes them seem somewhat bird-like and perhaps even an unintelligent species.

All this lead to a horrific series of experiments wherein Faeries were captured and mutilated to see at what point they could no longer function.

So here we have a series depicting an early victim of those experiments who has had her skull hollowed out to see if Faeries have brains - which it was quickly discovered, they do not.
