Blue Lenaka Demon.

I did another shoot reusing the Lenaka Demon cowl prosthetic I did a shoot with a couple week ago. I didn't really go too far away as far as the subject matter goes, but I did want to paint it all up rather than keeping it simple looking.

It's been awhile since I did a full body paint job, it's pretty tiring and this was a little experimental - while not entirely successful, I did learn a lot from it I might try another time in hopes I get a more durable, long lasting paintjob.

The main idea was to just do a black backdrop for the shoot, but I felt like we might as well snag a few more outside somewhere. Went to an old lighthouse and quickly grabbed a few more to round out the shoot, I was a little surprised how many of those turned out really nice too.

Quexital Demon

Another pretty quick and simple makeup. The prosthetic gave me a bit of trouble with this shoot, it was a reject and a little stiffer than I'd thought, it kept pulling up in places and in some shots looked pretty bad - so I had some serious photo shopping to do.

This is probably the last of these simple shoots I've been doing lately, I've only been doing them as I'm working with a new model and we're just seeing how she is in front of the camera and all that stuff. I've got some more elaborate looking makeups planned soon - although, these shoots are always fun to do, not as much pressure to have something turn out amazing, it's just about slapping on prosthetics and paint and seeing what happens.

Sarauta Demon

I've always liked the idea of prosthetics that totally don't line up with human features. I've done a couple before, there was a Cthulhu piece and a Cyclops shoot - but I wanted to do something that was unique, something that was potentially monstrous, but actually rather beautiful in its own way. I guess the notion is (as much as I hate saying it out loud or writing it because it sounds so pretentious) to challenge the idea of beauty. To see if I could take something very inhuman looking but shoot it in a rather traditional way that "beauty" is photographed and actually make it work in its own context.

I think it does. I'm actually really happy with how this somewhat weird, kind of artsy in an 80s sort of way,  shoot turned out.
