3rd, and pretty much last, day on the 3D Movie

I kinda can't believe we actually got everything major done today - aside from a couple minor shots just involving the Alien Brain Monster hordes, which will be really easy.

I was worried things might bugger up shooting at the lab at UPEI, espcially since it's an uncontrolled environment, we only had from 9:30 to 1:30 (and at 1:30 there was a class coming in), as well as the fact we were told that student would be in and out of the place setting up for their class. No one was there but us and we finished at 11:30.

I'll also point out at this point in time we had two more exterior scenes to shoot, because of scheduling we wouldn't be getting to them until Monday and Jaz is leaving on Friday for a year. So the best hope was to finish early and maybe do it today...but it was hailing and raining all morning while we were shooting. However, as incredibly uncooperative as the weather has been - it cleared up long enough for us to finish everything.

It was a pretty rushed shoot, but it wasn't stressful at all. I reckon this was because I wasn't concerned about continuity or anything, otherwise there could've been some bad moments. Overall the footage looks awesome, as you can see below:

The cast was Will Beckett as Dr. Jack Hammer, Jaz Krautwusrt as Susie, Tim Gormley as Lt. Edward Wood, Draper Bulger as the unnamed Boyfriend, Kim Johnston, Tanya Nicole MacCullum and Patrick Poirier as the Alien Brain Monsters and EmilyAnne Fullerton as The Brain Queen. It was a pretty awesome cast, everyone did a brilliant job.

So thanks to everyone who helped out, you all did a great job - especially shooting in the cold weather - for which I specifically apologize to Jaz for making her suffer through, at least everyone else had pants and long sleeves.

There's also about 350 behind the scenes pictures that Kim took today, I'll post some of those later.

2nd shoot on the 3D Movie

It went awesome. I think I can honestly say I've never had so much fun on a shoot before - not to say normally it's like being flogged, but this was just utter ridiculousness it was so silly.

This morning we shot the last part of the opening sequence. Even by itself it looked foolish. Kind of put me in mind of a Kids in the Hall sketch for some reason, not any in particular just in general. It was pretty quick and easy, just 3 shots, no dialog, no marks to hit, nothing. Just Draper dressed like a dork look silly and getting blasted by a space ship that wasn't even there.

I had an hour or so to get myself organized for the big shoot later. The weather was iffy so I wasn't expecting too much, it was chilly, but nothing too horrible. I mainly felt bad for my lead actress, Jaz, who was wearing short sleeves and a poodle-like skirt. Kim was on standby the whole time with her coat when we weren't actually shooting.

We shot right down in behind Province House, so we were in a pretty open and public area. We had no problems, aside from some tourist who decided to film us - which I have no problem with, but then he just stood there in the middle of the shot ignoring me until I gave him the finger. I can't tell if it was that or he just got bored because we didn't do anything but stare at him.

Otherwise, it was pure - I'm running out of good words for foolish and silly, but whatever it was, it was pure that.

In any case, here's some images from the movie.

So that's it for now, we've got another long day tomorrow. Everyone did an awesome job today, let's hope tomorrow goes as smoothly.

Recasting

I hate recasting, simple as that.

I've been having to do it more often lately and not because people are being dicks or anything, but just because of bad timing. If I ran a business and had an employee, who I was paying, and they were a continual screwup - I'd fire them no problem, but in comparison my volunteer actors have done nothing wrong. Just victims of bad timing. It sucks.

I had to do it on Bimbo Zombie Killers! because of work conflicts and a very tight schedule. This time around, nearly the same thing but it was because I hadn't heard back from the actor and I have only a limited number of days left before I would have to recast another part.

I would hope the average person would well understand the situation and not take it personally. The only real thing on the line when the situation goes wrong is time and money, and unfortunately it's my money. It's at this point when a project goes from being fun to being a stressful pain in the ass.

No to say that this latest project is being a pain in the ass, it's taken forever to actually get it to come together properly and now that it has, something else has fallen off. I just hope this was the last time this happens on this project.

UFO sighting

I'm hoping this isn't premature and that I'm going to end up regretting mentioning all this.

Thing have picked back up again on the 3D movie. I've made some major changes to the script, ripped out a lot of the more frivolous material so we can get right to the important stuff, it shouldn't feel like you're missing out either - you won't even notice in the final product, but it makes shooting a lot easier since I only have 22 days starting today to finish. That might seem a little overwhelming, but we really only need 2 good days to shoot this thing.

I should have everything I need to jump right into shooting by beginning of next week. For some reason I just stalled on this, I've no idea what happened exactly but I just ran out of steam when it came to getting this thing done.

The masks are done and look pretty damned cheesy. I didn't want them to look really awesome and high end, I wanted them to look low-budget and amateur - which was pretty easy since this was the first time I ever made something like this and I've never used an airbrush before so the paint job is a little simple and sloppy.

As well, I think I managed to round up the last of the props and costumes I need to get the bulk of shooting done this month.

The only disappointing thing is the UFO. I managed to find just the right thing, it's small enough that I can control it myself while looking through the camera - making it much easier to deal with in that regard. The only drawback is that being so close to the camera, it's out of focus - so I'll have to shoot it separately and composite it, at least the method I'll be using is somewhat close to how they would've done it back in the day and will look suitable cheesy.

And that's it. I'm cleaning up the last draft of the script to be ready as soon as possible, I'm hoping to get the actors ready to do the first day of shooting next week. I guess we'll see how things go soon enough.

Other then that, post production on Malice has been going along pretty well, a few weird technical glitches but other then that it's looking pretty good so far. I actually has to get some new footage the last couple days to fill in some blanks. Nothing involving actors, just establishing shots or backgrounds for CG shots.

One thing that's been interesting is looking back on Malice and trying to figure out what I was thinking when I started it, almost 7 (?) years ago now. I wrote the script with the assumption at the time that I was able to pull off the FX that it needed, and here it is a very long time later and I realize there was no way I could've done them back then.

I'm glad it took so long to shoot, because the movie would've looked like crap with what I was capable of back then, even now I'm struggling to keep up with the FX it needs. One good thing is that it's pushed me into doing stuff I would have never normally done. And luckily most of the shots were planned out well enough that I'm not too restricted.

I've still no idea when it'll be done, but it's moving along slowly at least now, better then not at all.

My keyboard is messed up...

I'm missing my "M" key - so you an imagine how hard that last sentence was. It's weird how much missing one key really throws off the rest of your typing, so be warned there could be typos aplenty.

First off, I've managed to get into doing the post work on Malice this last week and it's going really well aside from a new glitch with the newer software. It may not be noticeable, I've yet to watch it on a TV to really know for sure, but any shot that I have to do up an FX shot, it gets a slight soft focus - and that's just coming right out of Premiere before I do anything, it doesn't appear to get worse if I have to rework the shot several times, I guess I'll see, either way I've learned to live with it at this point.

In any case, the FX are going well, there's only a few shots left in the first few scenes - aside from The Titan. The Demon, whose only in 4 shots looks pretty good, I have one shot left with him.

Right now I'm just adjusting the colour of a lot of the FX-less scenes and it's looking a lot nicer then when it was shot, Overall it's coming along pretty well so far.

Still working on the audio for Cronus and Bimbo Zombie Killers!, it'd be nicer if it was going faster, but there's no problems it's just going slow.

And it looks like we'll be putting a massive rush on The 3D Movie to get it done. It could end in disaster since my lead actress will be leaving in about 25 days. That seems to happen a lot lately, I have to be more careful next time.

And there's a few other new things happening, for now we'll just see how this month goes.

Slow and steady progress

Things are starting to get back in order. I've sent word to the actors for The 3D Movie that i hope to start shooting next week. There's still a few minor details to sort out, but things are well underway.

As far as future projects, there's only 2 left for this years. 3 if you count on that I've already shot 80% of, All About Monsters. I still need the "dramatization" footage for that. Karl is up next, it should've been Grayson and Gortch, but since it's a Lethal Weapon parody and that movie was set at Christmas, we'll be going the same way.

Speaking of Grayson and Gortch though, I got the first prosthetic for it done today, came out not too bad, a few problems that can still be fixed. The biggest problem was the batch of foam didn't quite work very well, I think the latex might be off or something - I have no idea if it's even possible for latex to go "off." In any case, it's not too bad. There are some definite problem spots, mostly caused by the off latex.

So next I'll be getting ready for Karl, which should be somewhat easy since it's just a documentary and most of the footage will just be improved anyway. There'll be a story, just not sure what yet. That almost means I'll have to subject myself to the having my face cast since i'll be playing Karl - I'm sort of not looking forward to it, since I have to train either Draper or Kim to do it and it's a full face cast. We'll see how that goes, if there's no update afterwards, you'll know it went bad.

Grayson and Gortch

I'm definitely running way behind schedule on these shorts, I'm hoping i can catch up before I can no longer shoot outside.

I did make some decent progress today. i started working on the Gortch prosthetic for the Grayson and Gortch movie. I decided rather then buying several of the same ones originally used for Malice, that I would make my own - mainly because of the expense.

This particular prosthetic is pretty delicate, and while I managed to peel it off somewhat intact, I can't really rely on that being the case every time I need to reapply it. It's rather ridiculous when I'm fully capable of making my own - that and the cost of ordering just one is more them what it'll cost me to make 6 or 7 on my own, so it only makes sense to do it this way.

So I won't take credit for the design, that was done by the good folks at Scream Team, they make really decent prosthetics, most of which were used in Malice.

The original in Malice.

The sculpt of the new one,
designed to fit the actor much better.
The script is still being worked on, although it's coming along pretty well.

As far as the other movies, here's where we are:

Bimbo Zombie Killers!: Video is done, a rough audio track is laid down, just need to add end credits and record all the dialog.

Cronus: Video is nearly complete, one shot is missing I need to get that at some point and that should take care of that. End credits are needed, sound effects and dialog are still needed as well.

The 3D Movie: Way behind schedule. Still working on props, there's still stuff I haven't even thought of yet. A couple locations are still needed as well as extras. I'm really hoping to get moving on this soon.

And that's it.

Cronus Opening Title Sequence

It's been awhile since I posted anything other then ramblings about how things are going - they're still going slow, although it's been picking up this week - so I thought I post the opening title sequence to Cronus.

They're not totally done, at least as far as music or whoever I'll find to do the music is concerned, otherwise totally done. What you're hearing is just a temp track, the same music I used for the trailer.

The main reason I'm showing it off, is because if you're familiar with Film Noir, then you might recognize it.

Came out pretty good as far as I'm concerned. Here's hoping the movie itself will be just as decent. The video should be done this weekend, I'm working on the audio for both this and Bimbo Zombie Killers! all weekend.

Bimbos and Demons

I've finally finished the video part of Bimbo Zombie Killers! and it looks pretty good. I might watch it a few times and decide to adjust the 70's look to it, but that's nothing major and effects nothing as far as moving on to the audio is concerned - which will hopefully be starting next week.

Also, I took another look at Cronus today, just to refamiliarize myself with it. It also needs to be processed to give it an older film look. The FX are done, one actros dialog is all recorded and soon I'll be finalizing that an getting into the audio. I'm hoping to finish the video by end of next week.

As far as The Horrible Alien Brain Monsters From Outer Space in 3D goes, it's been put on hold, but I should be getting back into it this week and if all goes well I'll be ready to start scheduling the rest of the shoot by early next week. So here's hoping all goes well.

Next up is Grayson and Gortch, basically it's Lethal Weapon with demons. I had a hard time getting the script together, so like Cronus, I watched a movie with the basic idea of what I'm going for an just took a lot of notes and more or less turned the movie into a Lethal Weapon clone. It's a bit of a cheat since I'm following nearly exactly the way Lethal Weapon was done - I'm hoping the next rewrite will give it a little something of it's own. More on this pretty soon.

And in limbo, but mostly filmed, is All About Monsters. It's been idling away on the backburner since the remainder of it is a series of very quick shots with a lot of FX. Mainly the monster, which I have yet to even design. I'm hoping to start snagging footage next month maybe.

And that's it. I can offically say without a doubt that Bimbo Zombie Killers! will be done by October 1st and hopefully even Cronus.

The Look of Bimbo Zombie Killers!

For some reason I can't get the proper aspect ratio to display here, it's fine other - as soon as I upload it, it looks like this. Ah well, not that it matters anyway.

The point is, I've finally nailed down the final "look" of Bimbo Zombie Killers! I've got one FX shot left, and it's going to take a couple days, but otherwise the video aspect of the project is finally done. The last step is to colour correct the whole thing to give it more of an old 70's look. You can see the difference here.

Top: Before and Bottom: After
And add to this some dust and scratches to make it look a little beat up, and some flicker here and there and it should look pretty good.

I'm starting the first relooping session with one of the leads, Heather, tonight and I'm going to try to get everyone taken care of over the course of the next week or two.

I suck at keeping track of things.

I need a personal assistant or something. I can't pay, but you get half my stress - so that's something.

Everything seems to have come to bottleneck today, making me realize that I can't pay attention to everything at once. Funny how this comes after reading an article about how multitaskers make the worst multitaskers.

It's nothing serious, I just lost track of finances - such as they are when you're on EI - and lost track of time. While I've made awesome headway on Bimbo Zombie Killers! in the FX department, I totally forgot - well, I didn't forget, I just didn't know how little time I had - to get one of the main actors to come in to do their relooping before they left. She leaves tomorrow morning and is unavailable today. My fault totally. Ah well.

There's even 2 cutaway shots I still need to shoot, I can do them in my own yard, but still, the point is I forgot.

I finally got the paint to do the masks for the 3D movie, but I'm at a standstill on one of the locations and the backpack prop - and the more I think about it right now, there's a lot of other smaller elements I've forgotten about totally that need to be addressed before we shoot.

So I'm postponing the next 3 projects, the 3D movie, Grayson and Gortch (which was supposed to be next month - which is nearly here already) and Karl (which can be done whenever, but I haven't even given it much of a 2nd thought until now).

I'll leave you with a couple finished FXshots fom Bimbo Zombie Killers!

Finally some good news.

Not too major. I got the first Alien Brain Mask completed, although it needs another coat of paint to cover up the fact the paint I had doesn't work well with the latex rubber - and of course the paint I need doesn't exist on PEI at the moment, so I have to wait like a deranged Star Wars fan outside the one store that carries this stuff while only 2 bottles of this precious paint, apparently so rare because it's made from the eyeballs of unicorns or something, are coming next week and if I don't snag at least one of them I'm held up for god knows how long.

That was amusing.

Otherwise, I've finally made headway on the last big prop I'm making. While it still needs a lot of work, I've finally managed to fine some items that will work for me in assembling it. That sounds vague, doesn't it? Basically what I'm making is a 1950's Ed Wood version of a GhostBusters proton pack that runs on water. So I'm keeping it as simple as possible and making it look like it's really just an elaborate water tank delivery system - hi-tech stuff.

Otherwise, I'm also hoping to get into relooping dialog for the other two projects that remain in unfinsihed limbo. We'll see how that goes.

Here's hoping to more interesting new next week.

Slowest Production Ever

I can't say I'm thrilled with how slow things are moving with the 3D movie. Of course, I can't blame anyone but myself or maybe just the situation.

I still have a bit to work out before I can fully jump into shooting again. I was really hoping these last 2 days would've seen things wrapped up - that's not the case. However, I can say I think I'm starting to see the end of things.

The biggest hangup has been the weapon used in the final scenes of the movie, I'm having major problems finding the parts I need - actually it's more like I'm having problems figuring out what I need. I'm hoping I've got it sorted out and I can get a rough assembly within the next few days.

Other then that, I've still no UFO prop. I just can't find anything the right shape. Here's where being able to use CG would make things so much easier, but I'm refusing to rely it. So I'm thinking I might just sculpt something - since size isn't an issue.

And lastly the masks. I think I mentioned they're done and ready for painting, it's the painting part that causing the problem. I've got an airbrush and a compressor - both work awesome. The problem is in finding the right paint locally. As usual, the one place that carries this sort of thing doesn't have the one thing I need. White paint.

I have some, but it's meant for more solid objects. I'm hoping after tomorrow's test that if it can't be used on it's own it can at least be used mixed with the proper paint. We'll see I guess.

Other then that, I guess things are going fine.

Alien Brain Monster Masks update

I got four masks made from a 1 gallon container of latex, still a small bit leftover to do some re-enforcing of some of the thinner looking areas. And I tried painting them yesterday, however I was using air canisters rather then a compressor (I figured it'd be cheaper and easier - I was wrong) and it turned out alright, the airflow was really uneven. So I'm getting a compressor on Tuesday to finish the job.

I'll post a picture once they're done, didn't feel like posting a half assed paint job - but it looks alright for my first effort.

Otherwise, still plugging away at stuff. This one seems to really be dragging along. Ah well, hopefully it'll pick up soon.

The Horrible Alien Brain Monster Masks

Took about a week from beginning to end, not working every hour of the day though, to finish the first mask. Don't know how many I'll make, all depends on how far the gallon of latex I have will go.

Anyway, here's a bit of a picture breakdown of the whole process. I'm not going to bother going into detail on how it's done, there's much better info out there then what I could ever give.

The head armature.
Building up the clay took some time.

The final sculpt, suitably 1950's looking I think.
Making the mold. This is the most stressful part of the whole thing,
because if you bugger it up, you just ruined your sculpture.

This is what happens when you pull the mold apart.

The final mold. Not too bad, I had to do some minor patching up on it.
Pouring the latex.
And then out pops this bad boy. It took awhile to properly dry,
I reckon because it was just my first time doing this. I'm pretty happy with it.

And that's it. I just have to paint the sucker now and we'll have our first Alien Brain Monster ready to take over the world. I'm hoping to get to the painting stage soon.

I'll point out now that I get most of my supplies from these guys, Monster Makers. I think I've mentioned them before, but I'll do it again. They're great guys to deal with, you have a question, give them a call and they'll help.

I've got a few more props to make and things to deal with before we just too much into shooting the rest of the 3D movie. Hopefully it'll pick up again next week.

Test of the 3D effect.

It's not too bad, not the greatest but it does get the point across well enough.

First Day on THABMFOS...in 3D.

I didn't feel like writing out the whole title. Sorry.

Today went great, finished in about an hour - not that this type of movie is all that hard to make. I guess if you wanted a very specific amateur, cheesy kind of feel you could spend some time, but I figure if I just rush and don't think too hard about what I'm doing it comes off just the right amount of clunky. I don't worry about lighting, shadows being cast, nothing - just set it up and shoot. It's going to suck a little going back to regular movie making after this.

I looked over the footage already and I'm really happy with it, EmilyAnne Fullerton played the Brain Queen and was able to give it just the perfect amount of cheese. I don't know how familiar with the genre she is, but she at least got the general idea. She did a fantastic job.

So a huge thanks to her for not being self-conscious in the ridiculous costume as we wandered outside across a very busy street to shoot a couple shots. Thanks to Derek Martin (aside from letting us shoot at City Cinema) and Tim Gormley for volunteering to operator the Brain Minions. Dangling a glowing rubber brain on a stick is the true test of a great actor or whatever. And Phil MacNevin, who came out to take some pictures, hopefully I'll see them soon, I'm sure they're awesome.

I managed to get a few pictures myself. And I'll be uploading a totally finished shot, by that I mean converted to Black and White (like that's really hard) and given the 3D treatment. So dig out your 3D glasses and see for yourself.

Tim trained for many years to operate a brain on a stick.
I'm a little disappointed the nylon string wasn't more obvious. It might be in the footage though, I haven't really looked too hard.
Probably the worst movie set ever.
The smoking bowl thing is kinda cool though.
And this was just too weird looking not to post.

And that's it for now. I'm going to look over the footage, we recorded for sound today since EmilyAnne is leaving PEI soon and I wanted this to be as painless as possible for her.

Now I've got to start in the on the latex masks, I have some pictures to upload later on that. I've a couple more props to build and we should be good to go on the rest of the movie.

Alien Brain Monster Latex Masks

I'm partway done making the latex masks for The Horrible Alien Brain Monsters From Outer Space in 3D. Doing a cheesy Ed Wood style movie, I figured I'd need some good cheesy looking latex masks - best way to do that is to make them yourself.

I've never done this before, but I am getting pretty used to mold making and I've done quite a few prosthetics at this point, so I figured this can't be harder then that. And it's not really, just a lot more time consuming. the prosthetics I've had to sculpt were pretty small, a forehead or something like that. This is a whole head, so it's a lot more work.

I'm happy with the results, I wasn't going for something awesomely professional looking - doesn't really fit. So I wasn't too worried about the final quality, so long as it had a huge brain and looked alien.

Anywhere, he's some pictures to break down the sculpting process.

A head armature to start with.
Then the awesomely fun task of building up the clay.
I started heating up the clay with a heat gun after about an hour because it was really hard on the hands otherwise.

Almost done blocking it all out.
And here's the final base of it.
I started smoothing it out a bit to make it more workable and less messy. You can see the difference, one side is done, the other isn't.
And this is it nearly done. I was going to leave it at this then I was looking at it last night and thought it needed a little something else.
So I added some squiggly ripples on the brain...
And 25 some hours later, the Alien Brain Monster sculpture is done.
It took quite a while, like I said my first time doing something of this size. I think I went through 14 lbs of clay, a lot got scraped off during the sculpting process.

That's it for now, I reckon tomorrow I'll start in on the part I hate, getting ready to ruin it. The mold will be in two pieces, front and back. I'm hoping to get that done tomorrow and perhaps do my first mask on Monday, maybe even tomorrow evening if I feel up to it.

Horrible Alien Brain Monster Progress

Had a bit of a photoshoot with most of the cast today, I say most because one of them couldn't make it last minute. Didn't effect things too much, I really just wanted to see how the cast is going to look and so far I'm pretty impressed.

Things are progressing really well, had few small setbacks if you recall me ranting about them last week - but it's all been pretty much worked out. And if all continues to go well, we should start shooting next week.

Anyway, here's the main cast:

Jaz Krautwurst as Susie and
Will Beckett as Dr. Jack Hammer
EmilyAnne Fullerton as
The Brain Queen
and her poorly photoshopped Brain Minions
Missing from today was Andrew Mooney as Lt. Edward Wood.

Still waiting on word back from one of the locations, still working on a couple props and that's it really. Hopefully this will prove to be a relatively quick and painless shoot.

3D movie update

I've had a few folks as this me, and I guess I can't really blame them, but it would seem odd to me to have "In 3D" in the title of a movie and it not actually be a 3D movie. So yes, this movie, The Horrible Alien Brain Monsters From Outer Space in 3D, will really be in 3D.

No, I'll point out that this is not being shot in 3D, it's just a process. So it's not true 3D, it's sort of a fake 3D that kind of works and gives you the overal impression that it's 3D. I guess.

I'll also point out, I'm annoyed at several things, so all this is probably going to sound pissy.

I'd love to say so far this movie has been flying along perfectly and is going to be incredibly easy to make given how smoothly pre-production has been going. Actually, I will say it - but I will also be lying. Big time.

Nothing major or earth-shattering, just a lot of little snags and glitches and minor annoyances that are sort of taking the fun out of it just a little bit. Mainly the props are proving to be near impossible to track down without a lot of time and money, neither of which I have in abundance lately.

I think I've mentioned a couple of these things before, mainly the brains and the chainsaw prop. Well, I finally found a chainsaw to my liking, and here in Canada, it was pretty pricey but it looked awesome. It even had a rubber chain that would move. Well, $86 later and it turned out the damned thing was barely a foot long. Would've been nice to have known this when I ordered it. I do partially blame myself on this.

Of course I could've asked, but I did mention to the person I purchased it from that I needed it as a prop for a movie. One would think logic would kick in and this person would've assumed that perhaps I might've been looking for full sized chainsaw - even if he'd had the slightest inkling of an idea he could've said something. I mean you spend that much money on an item you expect something pretty impressive, right? This thing looked barely worth $20. At least he'll except a return, but I'm still out half the price in shipping regardless.

Anyway I wrote the chainsaw out of the script yesterday so it doesn't matter anymore.

So now I'm paranoid that the brain props are going to be useless. It only took them a week to ship them - apparently because their website checkout wasn't working properly? You took my money right away, seemed to work fine then. Does your checkout also package and ship your stuff? I'm curious as to how that works. Regardless, they'll be here next week, I guess I'll find out the hard way if they'll be of any use.

Other then that, it's just been a lot of little things not working as expected - but perhaps it's these sort of things that makes a movie like this work in some way.

Luckily, on just the exact opposite side of all the little problems, my actors turned out to be willing to work around their insanely conflicting schedules. And they were almost all on time for our meeting yesterday. That always makes things run so much smoother.

The costumes are very nearly sorted out. I'm hoping to do a last check to make sure everyone has everything on Thursday, as well as doing a quick photoshoot for the poster.

Also one of the more difficult sets, Dr. Hammer's Lab, has proven to be slightly less difficult then originally expected. Turns out we have a couple contacts who might be able to get us into the space we want. We'll see.

All the other locations are randomly easy to find. Other then a few minor things, and one major thing - the Alien Brain Monster masks I'm still sculpting - we're pretty much ready to start shooting soon.

Another boring update with no pictures.

I'll make this quick since I do plan on doing a more interesting update in the next few days or so.

Cronus: on hold because of no audio equipment, the video aspect is finally done though.

Bimbo Zombie Killers!: Waiting to find a time to do all the post splatter effects, should be doing the audio in a couple weeks. The audio equipment is different then the stuff being used for Cronus, long story.

All About Monsters: this one is just lying in the background waiting for spare tie to design the creature and line up all the re-enactment shots.

The 3D Movie: most of the props have been sorted out. I should be working on the alien monster masks later today once the supplies arrive. Still have yet to meet with all the cast. Locations are still sort of sketchy, but most are simple enough aside from the lab set.

And the next one, Grayson and Gortch needs a final script, which I'm hoping to rough out pretty soon. I haven't even looked at it in months, it could be done for all I recall. This one won't be shot until late September.

That's it really. Just slowly working away to get this latest project up and running. I think it should work out alright.

Minor Update

Not too much new going on. I'm just finishing up the last FX shot for Cronus and then doing up a final edit and finally onto the relooping sessions with the actors. Then comes the awesome fun or sound editing and the incredibly craptastic music editing. I tried finding some good royalty free stuff, but there's nothing that fits this genre. I'm hoping I can find someone who can whip something up for me - I kinda hate dealing with musicians, some are next to impossible to deal with. When you find a good one, and they are out there, it kind of spoils you since they are the exact opposite of the rest.

I'm also hoping to get a final edit of Bimbo Zombie Killers! minus the blood done soon. I have to get an idea where I want to add in some extra blood and then spend a day getting blood splatter and blood spray shots. That should be fun. I've no idea when I'll get around to the audio for that, it's just a matter of time.

And then finally I've been into pre-production on the 3D movie. It's all cast, aside from the extras. I've got the script broken down to the point where I can start location scouting and prop hunting and costume shopping. I'm hoping to get the supplies to make the latex masks for the Alien Brain Monsters in the next 2 week because I'd really like to start shooting this 2nd week of August of not sooner.

We'll see how things go. The best part of the 3D movie is that there's next to no CG. Anything that can be done like it would've been done in the 50's is how I'm trying to do this. Mind you, there are some things that just can't be done the same way, so I'm forced to do it digitally. But the UFO, will be a crappy thing on a string with some forced perspecitve to make it larger. Same with a couple other effects.

And what little post effects there are, will be done to look as as simple as it would've originally been done, so don't expect a special effects extravagana here. This is going to look like old school crap.

Also, I wanted to mention the response to the Bimbo Zombie Killers! trailer has been pretty good, I've not had many people specifically comment on it, but the trailer on YouTube has gotten quite a few hits and it seems a lot of folks know about it - mainly because of the amount of extras that had been in it. There's been a fair amount of extras in the 3D movie as well, so I'm hoping for a similiar response.

This is stupid

I just deleted a page from the blog, and I can't even really say what page it was because if I write it out I'll just be right back to where I was. Basically it was about a phrase, and it was harmless enough - I just got sick of seeing most of the traffic to the blog were people looking up this phrase. There was actually over 3 or 4 hundred in the last month alone just because of that one phrase - and it has nothing to do with the movie stuff at all.

Not that if changes anything or threatens world peace that someone would search for this phrase, I just got sick of seeing it popping up, so I deleted it. I don't even know why I'm mentioning it now.

I'm done.
